Knoxville Horror Film Fest

In honor of the Knoxville Horror Film Fest’s preview kick-off tomorrow, I will be dedicating this post to everything that went into the design of this years poster. I was fortunate to be able to participate in this event, and was really excited to get started on the design. My husband and I met with Knoxville Horror Film Fest organizer, William Mahaffey, and wanted to work together to design the poster for this years festival. After several rough sketches of different ideas, we finally decided on a direction to go towards. I created a few quick roughs to figure out my composition and get a general idea of what I wanted my type to look like.

Here is the final sketch on a piece of 11″x 17″ paper.

Final Ink on a piece of 11″ x 17″ Cold Press Illustration board.

Here is an early one in a different colorway.

Several color comps later, we decide on the one we think works the best.

For the printing, we asked the great Jay Shaw at Kingdom of Nonsense to help us out. His print work is always amazing and the end result was just perfect.
